We may forward your e-mail message to an ADEC member organization if they can provide the information you request.
The ADEC Degree and Program Database Catalog: Visitors to the ADEC Website may browse though the pages included in the Degree and Program Database Catalog without providing any personal information. The descriptions of degree programs, courses and other educational programs and products contained within these pages are provided by participating ADEC member institutions.
Online Registration: Registration for courses that are contained within the ADEC Degree and Program Database Catalog requires the user to first complete the Online Course Registration form. Registration information about the individual is used to:
- insure that products and services are delivered to the proper individual.
- provide the issuing ADEC member institution with information necessary to the maintenance of a program roster.
- provide contact information to allow ADEC and the issuing institution to properly serve the use.
- provide a data base of course and program users which will assist with the development of future programs.
Some demographic information is identified on the registration form as being optional. In some cases where registration approval from the issuing institution is required, instructions will be provided explaining what is needed to successfully complete the registration.
ADEC will not share any registration information with any third party other than the issuing institution. Aggregated information from the ADEC user data base will be shared only with ADEC member institutions. This aggregated information will not be linked to personal information that can identify any individual person. This information is not stored by ADEC and is available only to the organizations (CyberCash and Visa or MasterCard) which must review the information to approve the credit card transaction. Credit card information is tightly protected as described in the Security section of this statement.
Cookies: Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information, but they do allow ADEC to provide user friendly access to the On-Line Course Registration page and to the e-Commerce features of the ADEC Website. For example, the cookie on your hard drive would allow you to use On-Line Course Registration without re-entering the required personal identification information. Your Password and credit card information will NOT be stored as cookies. This information must be re-entered for each transaction in order to maintain maximum security of your information. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but can usually be changed to prevent cookies. Even without a cookie, you can still use all of the features of the ADEC Website including the ADEC Degree and Program Database Catalog, On-Line Course Registration and e-Commerce.
Choice/Opt-In: ADEC does not share any personally identifiable information with third parties which could be used to generate advertising, e-mail or other promotional contacts. The user may receive course or program related correspondence from the institution which is delivering the course or program for which the user has registered.
The ADEC Website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. Access to computer data and files at ADEC is secured by password coding to prevent unauthorized access.
ADEC utilizes industry standard SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption when accepting your credit card information during the online e-commerce checkout process. SSL encryption is a method by which information transmitted across the Internet is encoded to defeat theft by anyone who should intercept the data before it reaches its destination. Webpages where SSL encryption is activated are typically identified by a lock or key symbol displayed in your browser.
While ADEC uses SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, user information is also protected off-line. All user information is restricted in our offices. Only authorized persons are granted access to the password accessible personally identifiable information.
