Dr. Jack Britt

Biography:
Dr. Jack H. Britt is Vice President for Agriculture of The University
of Tennessee. He leads the Institute of Agriculture comprising the College
of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, the College of Veterinary
Medicine, the Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Tennessee Agricultural
Extension Service. Prior to joining The University of Tennessee in September
1998, he served for six years as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate
Programs at the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State
University. He has also held positions as Professor in the Department
of Animal Science at North Carolina State University and as Associate
Professor in the Department of Dairy Science at Michigan State University.
His career has focused on teaching and research dealing with reproductive
physiology of livestock.
Dr. Britt has more than 25 years of experience in conducting discovery
and developmental research and he has coupled this with efforts in developing
and promoting methods and systems for management of reproduction in swine
and dairy cattle. Dr. Britt is the author or co-author of more than 540
scientific and technical publications and abstracts and has been an invited
speaker at conferences throughout North America and in twenty countries.
Dr. Britt is recipient of the Upjohn Physiology Research Award from the
American Dairy Science Association, the American Cyanamid Physiology and
Endocrinology Research Award from the American Society of Animal Science,
the Research Award from the American Association of Animal Breeders, an
Outstanding Teacher Award from North Carolina State University, and was
a recipient of the 1998 CRS- Merck Award for the outstanding paper in
the agrochemical/veterinary field from the 25th International Symposium
on Controlled Release of Bioactive Materials.
Dr. Britt received the B.S. degree at Western Kentucky University and
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at North Carolina State University.
