Dr. James Oblinger
North Carolina State University
Biography:
Dr. James Oblinger is Dean and Executive Director for Agricultural Programs
for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State
University. He is responsible for the overall administration of 22 departments,
the N.C. Agricultural Research Service and the N.C. Cooperative Extension
Service, providing leadership for the recruitment, professional development
and promotion of faculty, students and staff, and representing the College
to the University and its external constituencies in agriculture and the
life sciences
Dr. Oblinger received a JB.A. in Bacteriology from DePauw University in
1967, a M.S. in Food Technology from Iowa State University in 1970, and
a
Ph.D. in Food Technology from Iowa State University in 1972. He has twelve
years teaching experience at the University of Florida. His research interests
include microbiology of food products and evaluation of regulations on
processing variables and food safety concerns.
