Mr. Bob Sams University of California, Davis
Biography:
Bob Sams has been Director of Communication Services and Information Technology for the University of California's Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources since 1995. A newly formed unit with a staff of approximately 36, Communication Services and Information Technology provides educational materials production services and information technology support for UC's agricultural extension and research system. The system includes statewide county extension academics and programs, experiment station and extension faculty and research facilities located at the Davis, Berkeley, and Riverside campuses of the University and is complimented by twelve research and extension centers located across the state.
Before assuming the UC position, Bob was Director of Agriculture Information Services and Assistant to the Dean in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences. Even earlier, Bob's focus was production agriculture as Superintendent of Farm Operations and Facilities at Penn State.
Sams graduated from Penn State with a BA in English and from Indiana University with a MA in Folklore. After a major career change and starting a family, he returned to Penn State and received a BS in Agronomy in 1976.
Bob and his wife, Judy, have two children, Ben and Cara, and live in
Davis, California.
