Dr. Roger Terry

Biography:
Roger Terry is coordinator of the Information and Educational Technology
unit in the Department of Communications at Kansas State University. He
has served as unit coordinator and extension state leader for technology
for 10 years. Terry earned a bachelor's degree in agronomy from Brigham
Young University and master's and doctoral degrees in soil physics from
Kansas State University.
His involvement with technology began when he taught computer science
courses at Kansas State from 1981 to 1984. During that time, he was principal
investigator for a Kellogg-funded project aimed at developing microcomputer
decision support modules for farmers. Terry served as extension computer
coordinator from 1982 to 1990. He was the campus coordinator to the North
Central Computer Institute from 1984 to 1988. He has been vice chair and
chair of the ACE Information Technology SIG and an ACE Web steering committee
member.
Terry led a 1991 visioning and strategic planning effort that secured
technology funding for Kansas State research and extension. He recently
oversaw a multimillion dollar project that upgraded computer systems,
LANs and other technologies for the 105 county extension offices in Kansas.
Terry has provided project leadership and consultation on grants and projects
totaling more than $4.5 million.
He is the technology/electronic publishing workgroup chair for the National
Network for Health and maintains the NNH/HPHC Web site. He also is serving
on the Healthy People Healthy Communities national initiative management
team. In addition, he is part of the CYFERNet Technology Management Team.
He enjoys community involvement and recently received the Boy Scouts of
America's Silver Beaver Award for outstanding service to youth.
