Dr. David Thawley

Biography:
David Thawley is dean of the University of Nevada, Reno's College of
Agriculture and director of the university's Agricultural Experiment Station.
Under Thawley's leadership between 1988-1989, Minnesota's College of
Veterinary Medicine has become the primary focus of university activities
in molecular biology. Their academic swine program is considered No. 1
in the nation, and the Food Animal Biotechnology Center is recognized
worldwide.
Prior to Thawley's 12-year tenure at Minnesota, he was professor and
associate dean of research at the University of Missouri's College of
Veterinary Medicine and assistant director of Missouri's Agricultural
Experiment Station. He directed a $13 million initiative to strengthen
campus-wide programs in molecular biology.
Thawley has traveled to 16 foreign countries as a field consultant,
and has served on numerous global agriculture committees for the National
Association of Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.
