ADEC Distance Education Awards

Dan was nominated for an ADEC Award by Dr. Ken Bolen, Dean and
Director of Cooperative Extension at the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Bolen notes:
"Dan has been on the ADEC Program Panel both at the University
of Illinois and the University of Nebraska. . . . At Illinois, Dan set up
the ADEC program database/catalog and maintained the database for the
Consortium........He has taken the lead on demonstrating and educating
his colleagues and ADEC Board members on various information technology
applications and opportunities........Dan also serves as an advisor and
consultant to ADEC and Jan Poley. Most recently, he has been assisting on
a plan for the Consortium to purchase a satellite transponder. He has
taken the lead as one of a few states to test the satellite as an Internet
transport to rural areas not served adequately by telephone lines........Dan
has served the Consortium willingly and with great vigor and has been
an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization."

Scott was nominated for this award by Dave King of Purdue. Dave
included the following in Scott's nomination for his contribution
to the ADEC Digital Infrastructure:
"Scott has done an outstanding job of seeking input from member
institutions, the Program Panel and Board and developed and
re-developed the plan as new information became available. He
prepared an excellent Power Point demonstration that served as
the focal point for the digital infrastructure conversation
across the nation........ADEC owes Scott Fedale a large
thank you for his excellent and tireless work in bringing
the infrastructure of the consortium forward in this ramp-up
effort."

David was nominated for an ADEC Award by Dr. Janet Poley,
President of ADEC. In nominating David, Janet noted:
"Dave King has provided outstanding leadership within the ADEC
consortium for the development of the concept of a "Knowledge
Marketplace." King wrote the paper that is now providing the
major educational program strategic direction for the next two
years in this area. He worked collaboratively with the Program
Panel and Board of Directors in shaping this comprehensive
framework.......The Knowledge Marketplace document/development
process is an outstanding and creative piece of work. Dave King
deserves to be recognized by members of the consortium for this
outstanding achievement."

Alan was nominated for an ADEC Award by Dr. Irvin T. Omtvedt,
Vice-Chancellor for Agriculture and Natural Resources and Vice-Chancellor
for Extended Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Omtvedt
included the following statement as part of his nomination:
"As a result of being in the same office complex, I am well aware
of the activities and contributions that Alan has made to the
ADEC organization and consider him to be an ideal candidate for
the "Barrier Buster" Award in recognizing his effectiveness in
reducing and eliminating barriers associated with distance
education at the institution, state and multi-state levels. Alan
was extremely effective in sorting out the financial "mess"
during the transition period and spent countless hours to develop
policies and procedures for sound business practices. His
contributions have been primarily in the area of financial
management and budgeting."
