A six-part seminar series, originating from Clemson University, with participation of the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges (NASULGC) - Board on Agriculture and the Kellogg Commission on Higher Education. Additional partners include the ADEC Distance Education Consortium, the Council on Agricultural Science and Technology, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. At Clemson, the seminar series is sponsored by Clemson's Public Service and Agriculture programs and the College of Engineering and Science, the South Carolina 2020 - a consortium of Clemson University, South Carolina State University and the South Carolina Technical College System. Participants in the Kellogg financed Food Systems Professions Education Project should also be interested.
"This seminar series came about as a result of long-range strategic planning efforts completed by the Clemson faculty in May 1994 and funding of the Alliance 2020 project by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, said Jim Fischer, seminar organizer and SCAFRS director.
"The land-grant institution will function very differently five years from now, and I am proud to say that Clemson is one of the first in the nation to tackle the tough issues that all higher education institutions will face in the 21st Century," he said.
