IDEAL2 Videoconference
Evaluation Report

Summary

The purpose of the live videoconference was to increase awareness of issues identified in IDEAL 1, engage in a broader audience among land-grant consortium members, and demonstrate possible solutions via pre-recorded case study vignettes.

With a response rate of 30% (N=57 sites) 17 respondents rated the overall conference as being highly effective. (Mean response=4 on a Likert scale of 1-5 with 5 being the highest). At present, there is no data on the total number of registered viewers at each participating site.

An analysis of the data reveals that respondents were very pleased (M=4) with the program focus, relevancy of the content, and technical quality of the production. Respondents were less pleased (M=3) with the interactivity of the videoconference. Respondents suggested more time for interaction with guest presenters. Qualitative data also suggested that the opening session was somewhat irrelevant "Too much administrative back clapping up front---get to the substance sooner."

On the other hand, there was very positive feedback from respondents on the effectiveness of the case studies (M=4). Qualitative comments voiced strong satisfaction with content, program focus, faculty presentations, and issue identification.

Generally, ADEC received above average ratings for overall effectiveness of the videoconference. It is difficult to determine if all objectives were met without more extensive date i.e. number and title of participants at each site.

Implications for future videoconferences include designing for increased interaction with viewing audience, increased use of case study format to address key issues, more efficient design of evaluation instrument.
