ADEC Website Makes a Difference: Email from Robert Dixon

Some time ago I wrote a short article here, about using a generator with a UPS, and ADEC chose to put that article on its web site.

I recently received the enclosed message from someone who found the article very helpful.

Thanks to ADEC for putting it on the web site. A good example of knowledge spinoff to the commercial sector.

I really appreciate your article on the web concerning the frequency tolerance of a UPS. I just installed a backup generator in my Tupper Lake, New York RadioShack store. We have many power failures there since we are in the middle of the woods.

Whenever the transfer switch put the UPS's on the generator they would switch to battery power. I checked the voltage at the input and found it to be within one volt of the line. My next step was to install a Sola constant voltage transformer ahead of the UPS's. Reading your article saved me this money and a lot of frustration.

Thank You
