| We have some innovations that make installation and operation
of the CPE easier, that we would like to share with you.
1. Connecting the Spectrum Analyzer and Indoor unit to the Outdoor unit
at the same time.
It is by default necessary to disconnect one of these if you connect
the other. But by using a power divider they can both be connected at
the same time and left that way if you wish. There is still plenty of
signal available so do not be concerned about that. The required power
divider costs $22 from Dawnco. But they have $100 minimum order, so we
had to buy 5 of them. We are willing to distribute 3 of them to others
in this project who need
them. Note that you need to make two additional short coax cables to use
this.
2. Selecting the correct satellite using the Spectrum Analyzer screen.
By default you match the displayed spectrum with one you have memorized
or
with the one in the manual which is not very accurate. It is possible
to buy transparent plastic overlays which fit onto the Spectrum Analyzer
screen. We plan to print an accurate spectrum onto these overlays so it
then becomes a simple matter to match the displayed spectrum with the
overlay spectrum. We have 10 of these overlays and are willing to distribute
some of them to others who could use them. Note that they are not ready
yet, and their use requires that you set all the controls on the spectrum
analyzer as specified in the Tachyon manual.
