2000 ADEC AwardsProgram Panel/PCO Awards Participants of the 2000 All ADEC Meeting gathered Sunday, March 5, 2000, in Washington D.C. to honor individuals and teams with a number of ADEC Awards. Program Panel/PCO Awards:Awards were presented by ADEC's Program Panel and Principal Contact Officers for Exemplary Service to ADEC, ADEC Infrastructure, Barrier Buster and Outstanding Educational Program. Awardees were nominated by faculty, staff and administrators of ADEC member institutions. Winners were selected by a committee which included James Hamilton, University of Illinois, co-chair; Barbara Fails, Michigan State University, co-chair; Kevin Hayes, Oklahoma State University; and Zacch Olorunnipa, Florida A&M University. Excellence in College and University Distance Education AwardsThe first-time winners of the ADEC Excellence in College and University Distance Education Awards were recognized at the ADEC Awards Banquet on March 5, 2000. The University of Kentucky's distance learning program, the top winner of the award, received $5,000 and a trophy at a joint awards luncheon on March 6. University of Kentucky, College of Agriculture Distance Learning Team: Carla Craycraft, Scott Hayes, Lori Porter, Kim Ragland, Nathan Wilson,Craig Wood. Other winners of this ADEC award include Ronald D. Smith, University of Illinois Department of Veterinary Pathobiology; Michael Swan, Washington State University Department of Agricultural Education; and A.J. Turgeon, Pennsylvania State Department of Agronomy. Honorable mention awards went to H. Dean Sutphin, Associate Dean and Director of Academic Program, Cornell University; Claudia Probart, Associate Professor of Nutrition, Penn State; Michael Hutjens, Professor of Animal Sciences, University of Illinois; Mary Brintnall-Peterson, Professor/Extension Program Specialists in Aging, University of Wisconsin; and Patricia A. Curtis, Assistant Director for Academic Programs, North Carolina State University. Service Awards
