2000 Irving Awards

Participants of the 2000 All ADEC Meeting gathered Sunday evening, March 5, 2000, in Washington D.C. to honor the winners of the 5th Annual Irving Awards. The 2000 Irving Awards, named for Irvin Omtvedt, the first chair of ADEC, were received by Alan Moeller, University of Nebraska Lincoln, and Kirvin Knox, Colorado State University.

Alan R. Moeller is a year 2000 Irving Award Winner for his leadership and dedication to assuring sound financial and administrative management for ADEC. He serves as the primary administrative liaison between ADEC and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Beginning in 1994 he worked with the ADEC President and Board to establish new financial accounting systems, audits, insurance, legal counsel and personnel structures. He has worked closely with the ADEC treasurer on business planning, banking and investment strategies. With Moeller's leadership ADEC continues in a financially sound position. In 1998 Moeller received the ADEC Exemplary Service Award from the consortium Program Panel and PCOs. Moeller is Assistant Vice Chancellor for Finance and Personnel, Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Kirvin L. Knox is a year 2000 Irving Award recipient for his visionary, ethical and consistent leadership as ADEC Treasurer from 1997 - 1999. Knox became a member of the ADEC Board of Directors in 1995 while Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut. He is currently serving the ADEC Board of Directors as the Chair of the International Task Force. During Knox's term as treasurer ADEC's finances became more complex including budgeting for digital infrastructure and management of a major federal grant. Knox currently serves as Associate Provost for Agriculture and Public Service at Colorado State University. He and his team have played a major role in putting the wheels of technology, finance and business strategy to work for ADEC's future global position.
