JAN: We need a new ecosystem...... a new congruence. We're bolting
technology on old ways of doing business as fast as we can find
the dollars to put our lecture notes on the web .....and our two-way interactive video lecturing systems in place. We are moving
much too slowly to get top quality learning experiments in place
that reach to homes....into the workplace and around the world in
truly collaborative fashion. We seem to have drawn a line in the
sand that helps no one...... on one side "technology is just a
tool....thank you very much" and on the other teacher centered,
new strategies, students and processes were not possible with the
emerging technologies. Exciting new learning environments are
coming. A world marketplace for learning is dawning. Yet we
seem absolutely paralyzed when discussing how traditional
education providers might really collaborate with business,
industry, government and other countries.
